You will need Internet access.
Regular dial-up access will be very slow... the court recommends 56K or
faster |
You might need a scanner.
If you need to file documents not created by a word processor, then
you will need a scanner to scan those documents into a format acceptable
to CM/ECF. Scanned documents should only be submitted when absolutely
necessary, as the file size of scanned documents may be as much as 5
times that of a converted text document. Scanned documents take longer
to load into the system, longer to retrieve and are not searchable by
keyword. Scanning Tips
Set your scanner output to black and white only.
Sign documents with black ink
Set your scanner resolution at 200-300 dpi as a maximum. This provides good
quality images and helps to reduce the size of electronically submitted documents. |
You will most likely need a PDF Writer.
Acrobat Reader allows you to view PDF documents, but in order
to create PDF documents you will need a PDF Writer. There are several
free and inexpensive PDF writing software packages. Our internal court
users will be using CutePDF from www.cutepdf.com. Other options include
Adobe Acrobat (www.adobe.com), PDF Factory (www.fineprint.com), PDF995
(www.pdf995.com) and DeskPDF (www.docudesk.com). |
