Local Rules

The Court promulgates the following Local Rules to supplement the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure. These rules are intended to promote the just, efficient, and economical determination of cases pending in the Middle District of Georgia.

The Local Rules were amended effective March 7, 2022.  Local Rule 7.4 sets a page limitation of 20 pages on objections to Reports & Recommendations.  Local Rule 9.2 allows for electronic service in Social Security Appeals.  Local Rule 83.1.4 amends attorney withdrawal procedures in civil cases when a client will still be represented by counsel.

The Local Rules were amended effective January 1, 2020. The changes clarify that filing timelines for motions apply to attorneys and unrepresented parties, special RICO Interrogatories are no longer required, and attorneys must ensure that digital exhibits are identical to exhibits admitted at trial before jury deliberations begin.  Please see the attached Order and full text of the rules for more information.

The Local Rules were amended effective July 1, 2018.  Local Rule 87.2 adds a requirement for corporations and unincorporated associations to file a jurisdictional statement in cases based upon diversity of citizenship.
