Only by having people like you participate in the jury process can we ensure that all persons are afforded their constitutional right to have a jury drawn from a fair cross-section of the community. We extend our sincere appreciation and hope that your jury service is a rewarding experience.
Term of Service
Jury service could last anywhere from 1 day to 3 weeks. The schedule will vary due to holidays and expected trial length. Prospective jurors generally receive a summons 30 days in advance so they may plan to be available at the time summoned.
Request for Excuse
If service on a jury at the time summoned would pose an undue hardship, you may request an excuse via mail at U.S. District Court, PO BOX 128, Macon, GA 31202 or by email at jury@gamd.uscourts.gov. The request should indicate whether service at a later date is possible. You should include your juror number and a telephone number. Sending a request does not automatically excuse you from jury duty. You are not considered excused until notified by the court.
Call 1-800-793-7903 for reporting instructions or to check the status of your excuse.
