Naturalization Ceremonies

The United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia is honored to take part in the process of Naturalization. Naturalization is the process by which U.S. citizenship is conferred upon a foreign citizen or national after he or she fulfills the requirements established by Congress in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

Believing that residents of the Middle District deserve a special ceremony recognizing their journey to citizenship, Judge Land resumed Naturalization Ceremonies for the Middle District.  Previously, those ceremonies had been discontinued and applications for citizenship were processed administratively. Judge Land conducts a Naturalization Ceremony annually in Columbus on the first day of the September Trial Term. Judge Treadwell conducts a Naturalization Ceremony in Macon each spring.
