Jury Qualification Frequently Asked Questions

What if I am a caretaker for a disabled person who received a summons, or I receive a summons for a relative who is now deceased?
Return the questionnaire on that person’s behalf. In the remarks section on the back of the form, please indicate:
- The nature of the disability; or
- Write “DECEASED” in the REMARKS section along with the date of his/her death; and
- Your name and relationship to the individual

What if I am hearing impaired or have another form of disability and still want to serve?
Please contact the court at least one week in advance. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate.
Sign language interpreter and/or auditory assistance devices may be available.

What is the maximum file size for CM/ECF?
Our CM/ECF system has a Maximum PDF File Size of 50 MB. The Maximum Merge Document Size size is 800MB.

What should I do if the questionnaire is sent to someone who is currently out of state?
Have them complete the online questionnaire. They may also send an excuse request to jury@gamd.uscourts.gov

What should I wear to jury duty?
The dress code of the court reflects the important and professional service jurors provide. Dress shirts, pants, pantsuits, skirts and dresses are appropriate. T-shirts, shorts or tank tops are not appropriate. You may wish to bring a sweater or jacket for your comfort.

What technology is available at the courthouse?
Wireless access is available for attorneys in all of the courtrooms. Please ask the courtroom deputy for the password. Evidence presentation technology is also available in most of our courtrooms. See this link for more specific information.

Will I ever have to spend the night?
It is very rare that you would need to spend the night. In general, jurors would be notified in advance if they were to be sequestered.
